This is an exciting opportunity in Nashville, TN or Columbus, IN for a Director of Global Finance Shared Services. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.

This role will provide strategic and business leadership in establishing procedures, standardizing and digitizing transactional processing, and leading efforts to transform financial shared services for Cummins Inc. The goal of the transformation will include improving business processes, driving results by providing greater transparency, creating efficiencies through innovative solutions - with a focus on standardization and improved governance.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Partner with the Business Service Regional Controllers, Finance IT leadership and Treasury.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of existing policies, processes, and systems with a focus on simplifying, standardizing and implementing best practices globally

  • Order to Cash (Current services: Collections, Payment Application, Accounts Receivable Reporting)

  • Procure to Pay (Current services: Accounts Payable Vouchering, Disbursements, Accounts Payable Reporting)

  • General Ledger and Accounting (Current Services: Monthly Reconciliations, General ledger maintenance, Fixed asset accounting, Lease asset accounting)

  • Maintain a strong focus on best in class execution and deliver short termresults and successes while moving towards the long-term vision

  • Benchmark against other companies to identify and implement process improvements

  • Improve internal control environment to more efficiently monitor transaction risk and financial exposure

  • Develops and monitors service level agreements including meaningful metrics and service pricing

  • Provide oversite to the global budgeting and strategic simulation processes, including input on efficiency improvement

  • Manage strategic third -party suppliers for financial services

  • Serve as a Finance thought leader and technical resource, guide and influence people, processes, and resources to support the best interests of the business. Build trusting relationships with Finance leaders and partners

  • Present ideas with a compelling business case, and appropriate persistence that shapes the opinions of stakeholders; position proposals by linking to others' needs and concerns



  • Ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement and implement a strategic vision and purpose.

  • Excellent business acumen – making the right calls at the right time.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to create partnership and build trust within the business to achieve shared objectives.

  • Think analytically, focus on the big picture, and able to drill into the detail and understand the impact; Understand how the business works and the upstream and downstream activities that impact and are impacted by Finance

  • Global perspective – uses a global lens and takes a broad view when approaching issues.

  • Proven ability to communicate, partner, and influence various stakeholders across a global matrix organization.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a bias for team development, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Strong customer service focused.


  • Minimum of eight to ten years progressive management and leadership experience, including several years managing a multi-functional global or regional shared service center.

  • Previous experience in managing or driving transformation for a Finance Shared Services Center strongly preferred.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

Bachelor's degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience (finance/accounting degree, CPA and/or MBA preferred)

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
