Hydrogenics, part of the Cummins Group is an industry leading developer of renewable hydrogen technology and we are currently looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join us in our Gladbeck location (Germany).
This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly analytical Senior Accountant in Gladbeck, who is looking for an opportunity in a small business that operates as part of a global organization.
You will be a significant player on the site, responsible for managing a high volume of accounting activities as well as collaborating with our Project Engineering team - providing financial reports that will help determine the success of key projects.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:
Ensures the timely and accurate posting, balancing and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
Make accounting adjustments through appropriate journal entries.
Creates monthly and annual financial statements and reports according to German and US GAAP for presentation to the Finance & Business Leaders, including cash flow, forecasting, budget and explain related variances
Completion of statutory tax returns to submit to Bundeszentralamt für Steuern.
Compile, consolidate and conduct basic analysis of accounting and finance information.
Examine a variety of financial statements and transactions for completeness, internal accuracy and conformance with accounting standards.
Support the Finance Director on compliance and controls requests. Take responsibility for improvement of financial processes in the Gladbeck office.
Support of the General manager on financial issues
Support complex Value Package Introduction and new product introduction projects, analyzing project margins and presenting findings to the Project Engineering team that will influence key decisions.
Analyze cost & margin variances such as; Invoice Price Variance and Production Variance, project margin variance, determining root causes, and prepares recommendations and alternatives for improvements.
Prepare payment proposal files in the ERP system (IFS) and execute the payments in Proficash after proper approval.
Provide support during financial, fiscal, audits
Act as the key user of the ERP and coach colleagues as and when required.
Act as a back up for transactional work done by the Accounting associate
You will be successful in this role with the following experience:
Existing experience in Statutory Financial Reporting preparation (e.g. monthly VAT reconciliation, quarterly VAT declaration, Annual Report Preparation, AOP reporting etc.)
Relevant Finance qualifications are required, or you are qualified via experience in a similar role.
Existing experience using IFS, or a similar ERP system would be beneficial
Knowledge of German GAAP is essential, knowledge of US GAAP is beneficial.
Advanced Excel skills including; , VLOOKUPS, Pivots with advanced data manipulation ability.
Proven experience managing a high volume of work, supporting multiple departments within a business by providing timely and accurate finance reports.
The natural ability to instill trust with people at various levels. You are renowned for developing strong working relationships across your organization.
Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and German are required
Exposure in a multi- national business would be beneficial.
