Accounting Supervisor

Description

Reporting to Controller, this position will be supervising a group of accounting staff (1-3 reports) and will be primarily responsible for helping Controller/Asst Controller oversee the day to day operations of the accounting team

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned accounting transactions

  • Review / perform monthly GL reconciliation's

  • Perform standard entries / Manual entries

  • Ensure accuracy of accounting in conjunction with CMI accounting policies

  • Implement process, procedures, and policy changes

  • Identify control weakness, operates in a lead capacity in making remedial changes to tighten and enhance controls and mitigate risk

  • Provide useful / relevant financial information to operations to help drive decision making

  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports as well as supporting the development of the broader finance team and function

  • Facilitate SOX audit, external audit, and statutory audit

  • Perform tasks / projects as assigned by the Controller, Asst Controller, VP Finance

  • Work closely with CWC internal cross-functional team and branches

  • Collaborative, fostering knowledge sharing

  • Interact with headquarter Finance team

  • Work with internal SOX auditors

  • Work with external auditors

Qualifications

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred

  • Completed CPA Designation

  • Experience with an accounting system implementation an asset

  • Experience working in a complex environment, capable of handling ad-hoc projects, and changing priorities

  • Advanced Excel Modelling skills

  • Background in providing financial analysis, cause & effect information

  • Change management skills and holistic thinking

  • Supervisory experience considered an asset

  • Action oriented a must: critical thinking and results oriented

  • Proven ability to uncover problem areas and developing / implementing solutions

  • Strong communication experience

  • Solid knowledge of U.S.GAAP is an asset
