Cummins Inc. Accounts Receivable Manager in Nashville, Tennessee

Accounts Receivable Manager


Manages a team that processes accounts receivable transactions. Team includes supervisors and indirect reports.

Manages accounts receivable supervisors of a team of accounts receivable staff within the established accounting policies of the corporation.

Monitors records of amounts owed to Cummins and assures prompt collection of payments; works with other areas of Finance to ensure appropriate cash management and application of credit policies.

Manages the review of work methods and procedures; considers the impact of any changes on the overall organization; develops and implements changes in those methods and procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts receivable unit.

Develops and maintains relationships with outside credit and collections agencies; draws on their assistance as appropriate to collect payments due Cummins.

Acts as a point of escalation for complex, non-routine accounts receivable issues and problems.

Provides input into and manages the annual operating plan for the work area.

Manages, coaches, and mentors supervisors and accounts receivable analysts; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering employee skills and development needs.



US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - Evaluates US accounting standards to record transactions in compliance with requirements and company policies; assesses the accounting requirements and objectives to determine the implications on the business and communicate to stakeholders with varying financial knowledge.

Business Process and Internal Control Risk Analysis - Evaluates business processes to identify risks and internal control gaps; applies understanding of business processes and relevant risks to develop and implement process improvements; develops risk management plans by applying internal control framework to address identified risks.

Business Partnering - Collaborates with stakeholders and develops partnerships to drive performance that aligns to organizational goals and strategies; influences the organization by demonstrating knowledge of the business to provide guidance to support the decision making process and guiding the business towards positive results and organizational alignment; evaluates business environment using measures to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.

Financial Analysis - Interprets financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities and risks to provide insight to stakeholders regarding financial impact to drive business improvement; evaluates financial results against targets to communicate conclusions to all stakeholders; ensures integrity of financial data by investigating variances and determining corrective actions to resolve identified issues.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience required.


Significant level of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience, required.

Leads Accounts Receivable Customer Collections, Call Center andOpex activity supporting North American distribution entities.

Leads process improvement projects related to AR systems, processes andpolicies

Executes the delivery of strategic and tactical projects within the CBSAR Department

Key member of the Cummins Business Service Accounts ReceivableOperations Leadership team.

Held Finance, Accounts Receivable, Credit Management and/or Order toCash managerial position
